7 Uncomfortable Facts That Ruin Beloved Movies

6. Judy Garland Was Shunned By The Scarecrow, Lion & Tin Man - The Wizard Of Oz

The Wizard of Oz is regarded as one of the most beloved motion pictures of all-time. Surely there's no fact on Earth that could ruin this film? Ahem... The film stars Judy Garland in the lead role of Dorothy Gale, of course - a young girl who finds herself whisked off to the magical land of Oz, where she becomes best friends with a Scarecrow (Ray Bolger), a Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr) and a Tin-Man (Jack Haley). And witnessing the on-screen chemistry shared between the four, you'd have certainly have expected such a bond to have extended into real life, right? Not so. According to reports, Bolger, Lahr and Haley shunned the then sixteen-year-old Judy Garland for the entire length of production and contributed to the already hostile atmosphere on set out of a fear that Garland would upstage them. Despite those chirpy, pleasant on-screen personalities, who could have guessed that such an iconic trio of beloved characters could have been so nasty in real life? Way to outright ruin the movie! Ironically, it was Margaret Hamilton - the Wicked Witch of the West - who encouraged and supported Garland across the span of a troublesome production.
