3. 27 Animals Were Killed During The Making Of The Film - The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
If you thought the Shire was supposed to be a happy place, think again. One animal accidently killed during the making of a movie is a terrible affair, but 27 individual animal death... well, that's something akin to a holocaust. According to the wranglers who worked on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, mass death was exactly what occurred, describing the farm that housed more than 150 animals used in the film as a "a death trap." The deceased reportedly included a miniature pony, a horse, six goats, six sheep and a dozen chickens who were attacked by dogs. Oh, and two dogs were also badly injured having got caught on some fencing. Peter Jackson and Warner Bros. denied these allegations back in 2012, but it's hard to see how anybody could pull 27 animal deaths out of thin air. You have to wonder what the heck happened on the farm during the making of An Unexpected Journey. And it's hard to justify watching and enjoying any motion picture that resulted in so much unnecessary death.
