7 Uncomfortable Facts That Ruin Beloved Movies

2. Audrey Hepburn Wasn't Really Singing - My Fair Lady

My Fair Lady: a beloved musical featuring a beloved performance from the one and only Audrey Hepburn, who plays Eliza Doolittle. And doesn't she sound absolutely fantastic in the movie? Oh, with a singing voice like that, the world was surely her oyster! Shame that it's somebody else's voice entirely, then. Believe it or not, Audrey Hepburn did barely any of her own singing in My Fair Lady, despite the fact that she was cast over Julie Andrews and spent months and months preparing for it. The filmmakers decided at the last minute to dub Hepburn's voice with who they deemed to be a more talented vocalist, and choose Marni Nixon for the job, an actress and singer who had provided similar dubbing services for various actresses in Hollywood movies. Kind of takes away a lot of the magic of the picture, huh?
