7 Upcoming Movies Potentially Ruined By A Single Shot In The Trailer

1. These Guys Again? - Joy

Watching American Hustle, it became apparent that director David O. Russell was out to cement himself as the new Martin Scorsese... and the trailer for Joy, his latest flick, appears to be a continuation of that mission. All the Scorsese trademarks are there: the sweeping camera moments; Robert De Niro; a song by The Rolling Stones. There's no pretending now... O. Russell is clearly inviting audiences to make comparisons. The trailer for Joy looks pretty good, of course, and it teases what will no doubt be another excellent performance from its star, Jennifer Lawrence, who plays the inventor of the "Miracle Mop." But there's one moment at the very end of the trailer that sums up all the concerns that one might have with this very familiar film: the cast reveal that displays the names of Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro. "Haven't they all appeared in a movie together before?" you might be wondering, and the answer to that question is a resounding "yes." Twice, in fact, in both Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. All films that were directed by David O. Russell. This black screen etched with the names of these actors, all together in another movie, provokes not - as one might expect - a sense of joy (excuse the pun), but feelings of fatigue. Is it really time for another move with this cast? Why do Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper keep winding up together? Isn't there something kind of annoying about this whole David O. Russell/Lawrence/Cooper/De Niro love affair? It's enough to make you feel exhausted - and slightly worried that this third time won't necessarily end being a charm. Which other short trailer moments have you really worried for upcoming movies? Shout out any more down in the comments.
