4. Diary Of The Dead (2007)
What is so different about it? Before Spanish offering
Rec,
Diary of the Dead was one of the first movies to offer a point-of-view, documentary style film experience in a zombie apocalypse.
The Zombie Diaries came before it, but you've got to have a Romero offering on any zombie movie list so I opted to include this instead. The movie follows a group of film students, who are filming a horror movie in some woodland just as a zombie outbreak is occurring, and their subsequent adventures as all hell breaks loose. Although Romero won a Critics Award for
Diary of the Dead, reception was generally mixed and the film only has a 62% rating at RottenTomatoes.com.
Why have you probably never seen it? This is certainly the most commercial movie on the list and is indeed a product of zombie legend George A. Romero. However, it simply wasn't very popular. It earned $5,364,858 at the box office, compared to Romero's previous offering -
Land of the Dead - which grossed $46,770,602.
