7 Very Different Modern Zombie Films That You Probably Haven't Seen

4. Diary Of The Dead (2007)

diaryofthedeadWhat is so different about it? Before Spanish offering Rec, Diary of the Dead was one of the first movies to offer a point-of-view, documentary style film experience in a zombie apocalypse. The Zombie Diaries came before it, but you've got to have a Romero offering on any zombie movie list so I opted to include this instead. The movie follows a group of film students, who are filming a horror movie in some woodland just as a zombie outbreak is occurring, and their subsequent adventures as all hell breaks loose. Although Romero won a Critics Award for Diary of the Dead, reception was generally mixed and the film only has a 62% rating at RottenTomatoes.com. Why have you probably never seen it? This is certainly the most commercial movie on the list and is indeed a product of zombie legend George A. Romero. However, it simply wasn't very popular. It earned $5,364,858 at the box office, compared to Romero's previous offering - Land of the Dead - which grossed $46,770,602.
