8 Actor/Character Combinations To Bring Oscars To The MCU
6. Christoph Waltz - Red Skull
You might think that there are a couple of reasons why this could never happen. The first might be that Hugo Weaving portrayed the character in Captain America: The First Avenger and the second might be that he appeared to perish at the end of that movie. However, Weaving hated playing the role, so a replacement coming in is a definite possibility, and the likelihood is that the character was actually transported across the universe by the Tesseract rather than killed. He could come back in the Avengers: Infinity War movies, as an ally of Thanos, and go on to be a recurring villain in the franchise like Loki has been so far (and will continue to be). Christoph Waltz coming in to do the job would be awesome - a match made in heaven - and could easily be award-worthy. He has already won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of a Nazi - the ruthless Colonel Hans "the Jew Hunter" Landa in 2009's Inglourious Basterds - so his Red Skull would be a thing of evil beauty.
