3. Mark Hamill - Luke Skywalker (Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi)

Mark Hamill wasn't shy in his criticism of the death of his most iconic character to date.

Luke Skywalker was the role that made Hamill a household name back in 1977, and fans of Star Wars have grown up to revere the actor for his role in the mega-franchise.

Hamill admitted that he felt betrayed, claiming that the studio had "hornswaggled" him by only having him properly appear in one movie of the sequel trilogy.

The actor said that when he learned of his character's death, he assumed it would be in the final movie - a fair assumption considering Luke's importance in the Star Wars universe - but instead he was killed off in a rather unimpressive fashion at the end of Episode VIII.

Hamill has gone on to clarify that he didn't hate The Last Jedi, but that he was simply disappointed with the death of Skywalker, which is certainly something that many fans agree with. Seeing one of the most powerful Jedi of all time simply disappear under his cape was an obvious nod to the death of his mentor, Obi-Wan, but it wasn't the death Skywalker deserved, and Hamill was fairly justified in his reaction.
