8 Actors Who Seriously Injured Themselves For Movies

8. Harrison Ford Broke His Leg For Star Wars: The Force Awakens

As much as we're all loathe to admit it, Harrison Ford is getting on a bit. The man€™s 73, for goodness€™ sake. Of course, even pulling in a pension could never be enough to diminish the man's cool factor - there's no expiry date on being Han Solo, especially with a new Star Wars film incoming.

Still, we could forgive him for taking it a little easy; maybe performing all his scenes from a comfy recliner, or taking regular shooting breaks to do a spot of gardening or have a nap. But, no - Harrison let everyone know that no one puts Indy in the corner and got stuck into filming Star Wars: The Force Awakens with gusto. Unfortunately for Ford, the Millennium Falcon set had other ideas for him.

It decided that what he really needed was to have a nice long sit down and made sure he did just that by dropping an hydraulic door on his leg, breaking it and putting him out of action. Still, this is Han Solo we€™re talking about - within two months, he was back on set and, according to JJ Abrams, doing more than could be expected of anyone who was healing a break bad enough to require surgery, let alone a pensioner.
