Anyone who has been following the acting career of Jared Leto over the last 25+ years will know that the star isn't afraid to put his body through hell when it comes to finding the physicality of a character.

However, long before he was dropping 30-40lbs to play Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club or getting ripped to play Michael Morbius in the upcoming Sony Marvel flick, Leto chose to pile on a shocking 67lbs to play Mark Chapman, the man who assassinated John Lennon, in Chapter 27.

This intense weight gain resulted in the actor suffering from gout, and even led to him using a wheelchair to get around, with Leto telling Digital Spy:

"I had a definite problem with my feet. Towards the end of the shoot, one of the glaring issues was the pain I had with my feet. I couldn't walk for long distances; I had a wheelchair because it was so painful. My body was in shock from the amount of weight I gained."

Though you can't take anything away from the star in terms of sheer commitment to his craft, with his performance earning him critical praise, fans ultimately didn't flock to see it for themselves as Chapter 27 ended up taking less than $200,000 worldwide at the box office.
