8 Actors Who Went To Extreme Lengths For Films No One Watched
1. Shia Labeouf Genuinely Dropped Acid - The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman
You had to know it was only a matter of time before the barmy antics of Shia Labeouf made an appearance on this list.
Yet, it's worth noting that his questionable dedication to his craft has often been used to build memorable characters seen by large audiences in the likes of Fury and Lawless. However, that wasn't the case when it came to The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman in 2013 as the film failed to draw many people into cinemas after initially being screened at the Sundance Film Festival.
The film's lack of financial or critical success still didn't change that fact that Labeouf went all-out for his leading role of Charlie Countryman, though. After deciding to take LSD for the first time as a way of getting into his character's mind-set, co-star Rupert Grint explained that "If anything will make you not do drugs, it's watching that. He smashed the place up, got naked and kept seeing this owl."
The trip also resulted in the actor attacking the film's director Fredrik Bond after the decision was made to break for lunch whilst the actor was still on drugs.
Labeouf certainly hasn't calmed down his method approach in recent years either, with the actor infamously getting a full chest tattoo for his role in David Ayer's The Tax Collector.
