8 Actors Whose Upcoming Movies Could End Their Careers
3. Suicide Squad - Will Smith
Will Smith has been caught in a downward spiral for a while now. God knows what another misjudged filmic venture will do to his career. And Suicide Squad could go either way, of course, given that it has been written by David Ayer, the inherently polarising director who has managed to produce work as fine as Training Day and as terrible as Sabotage. Essentially, Smith will be responsible for his own performance, though, despite the fact that he doesn't ring true as villain Deadshot at all. There have been recent talks of a career death rattle in the press where this actor is concerned, with many claiming that Smith's career has floundered and he desperately needs a hit in order to appear relevant again. His last film, Focus, only made $19 million in its opening weekend, which suggests that people might be over ol' Will these days. Can you imagine what damage a naff performance could do to the already "Help! I'm caught in a nosedive" actor? Smith might see Suicide Squad as a safety net of sorts; a guaranteed way of starring in a "hit film." And it could very well work in his favour. Unless it doesn't, he's deemed terrible, and the poor guy ends up looking like a faded relic of a forgotten era.
