8 Actors You Didn't Know Hated Their Own Great Movies

6. Marlon Brando Branded The Freshman "Lousy" & Decided To Say Bad Things About It Before It Was Even Released

The Freshman I know, I know: there's an actual movie that features the combined talents of both Marlon Brando and Matthew Broderick, existing like that's the most normal thing in the world. I mean, what's it about? Well, it's about Matthew Broderick, a wannabe movie director, who becomes entangled in an illegal business that specialises in offering exotic animals (like, say, Komodo Dragons) as food items, whilst Marlon Brando plays opposite him, spoofing his Godfather persona. Seriously. You can't make like that up. Brando was kind of grumpy in his elderly years no matter what he was doing, which kind of explains why he decided that this movie was "lousy" before it even went into theatres, and told everybody that he thought so. The Freshman is one of those movies that has fallen into relative obscurity, though, despite being actually rather good - it's totally worth your time. Brando thought it was going to be terrible, but ol' Kurtz turned out to be wrong: it remains something of a forgotten gem. And he's really funny in it, too.
