4. Woody Allen Hated Manhattan So Much That He Offered To Make Another Movie For Free If It Was Destroyed

Woody Allen is mostly known for being a movie
director, but he's also an actor, too, so I'm totally getting away with this including this one on the list. If anything, the fact that the iconic auteur directed, wrote and starred in
Manhattan probably make this entry the most intriguing entry, you know. I'm not sure why I'm even having to explain myself, to be fair: you haven't even said anything. Point is, Woody Allen hated his 1979 masterpiece
Manhattan with a cruel and intense passion. He hated it so much, in fact, that he asked United Artists whether they would consider shelving the finished movie if he made another one for free. For those of you who have seen
Manhattan, you're probably thinking:
What?! Manhattan is, like, one of Woody Allen's greatest - if not his greatest - movies. What did he hate about it that meant he wanted it to go unseen? Well, nobody actually knows, but thank God UA decided not to listen to the nebbish little guy.
Manhattan is an undeniably great movie, anyway, and is proof that - sometimes - a movie director doesn't... uh, doesn't know... if they've made a good movie or not. Yeah, that can be the lesson here.
