8 Actors You Didn't Know Hated Their Own Great Movies

3. Burt Reynolds Fired His Agent For Getting Him Cast In Boogie Nights, Which He Thought Sucked

boogie nights It may come as a surprise to most of you, but I don't know Burt Reynolds in real life. That means I'm not really in any position to judge the man based on anything but his performances, but I think he comes across as mean. I suppose that's what happens when you used to be a '70s badass and now you're just, like, the ghost of a '70s badass. Anyway, all this talk has little to do with the subject at hand, but it does serve as an important segway: Burt Reynolds reportedly hated Boogie Nights and went on denounced it before it was even released. That, I think, was really mean. If you've seen Boogie Nights, you'll know that Paul Thomas Anderson's movie is a little masterpiece, and that Burt must have been mad to say bad things about it. The strangest thing about all this is that Burt is freakin' amazing in the movie - he even garnered an Oscar nomination for his performance and everything. Burt's badmouthing came when he saw the first cut of the movie, apparently, when he declared it "awful." He even fired his agent for getting him the part. Yes, he fired his agent for getting him an Oscar-nominated part. See? Mean.
