8 Actors You Didn't Know Secretly Directed Films
5. Sylvester Stallone - Cobra
Now, officially, Sylvester Stallone is not the one who directed the 1986 action thriller, Cobra, but anyone who's seen even one of his other films will see his fingerprints all over what should be a George P. Cosmatos film.
Stallone is the one who pitched the film, and even wrote the screenplay for it, so it makes sense that he would micromanage how the film was directed as well. While Cosmatos ultimately got the directing credit for Cobra, it's clear that this is more of a Stallone movie.
Not just in how much Stallone worked on this one compared to Cosmatos, but in how much of Stallone's style is here. There isn't a lot of dialogue, since Stallone at his prime liked to prioritize atmosphere and action above all and let those two tell the story, and overall, his directing style overshadows Cosmatos at pretty much every turn.
He may not have gotten the directing credit at the end of the day, but rumors or otherwise, this is most definitely a Sylvester Stallone movie through and through.
