8 Actors You Won't Recognise In 2018 Movies
6. Al Pacino - The Irishman
For discerning film fans of a certain age (i.e. old guys), there are few upcoming films more exciting than The Irishman. The project would have been thrilling enough for the simple reason that it sees Robert De Niro and Martin Scorcese working together again for the first time since 1995's Casino.
That excitement is increased tenfold with the knowledge that The Irishman will also star Harvey Keitel, Joe Pesci and De Niro's longtime rival for the title of best actor of his generation, Al Pacino (who, perhaps surprisingly, has never worked with Scorcese before now).
The legendary Godfather trilogy actor will portray Jimmy Hoffa, the famed union leader who disappeared under mysterious circumstances in 1975. Although at 77 Pacino is 15 years older than Hoffa was at the time, he's gone to efforts to look the part, through weight gain, make-up and costume.
The Irishman is a Netflix production, but we can only hope this doesn't entirely preclude the chance of a cinema release; an epic team-up of senior masters like this surely belongs on the big screen.
And whatever happens, it can only be better than most of the movies Pacino and De Niro have done this past decade, right?
