5. Zac Efron - The Beach Bum
Recent song-and-dance extravaganza The Greatest Showman might have seen the High School Musical alumnus return to his roots, but Zac Efron clearly isn't done taking on edgier, more mature roles just yet.
The 30-year old American actor is teaming up with director Harmony Korine (who we can only assume is determined to work with the whole cast of the High School Musical franchise, having worked with Vanessa Hudgens on 2012's Spring Breakers) for a supporting role in The Beach Bum.
Matthew McConaughey heads up the cast as Moondog, a "rebellious and lovable rogue who lives life large,” according to the only official statements on the film to date. We're told the film will follow his "hilarious misadventures," but knowing Korine we shouldn't expect anything too safe and non-threatening.
Nor should we expect the Zac Efron we're all familiar with. While it might be stretching a little to say he's truly unrecognisable, it's a very different look for the star, what with bleached hair, weird beard, and eye-assaulting wardrobe.
And this isn't the only radical transformation we can expect from Efron in the near future...
