8 Annoying Comic Book Movie Trends That Must Die In 2017
7. Battles Against Big CGI Monsters
Is there anything less thrilling than the now arbitrary final battle against a "Big CGI Monster" that so many comic book movies seem to rely on?
It's almost as if, at the end of every script, the writers decide to throw all logic out of the window; like the studios have implemented a clause that forbids them to write an ending that involves anything other than a generic, whirling mass of CGI with vaguely defined powers?
Take Suicide Squad, for example, which unleashes the most bizarre and seemingly random villain during the climax for our heroes to fight. Said heroes have no connection to this creature: it's like a boss in a Dark Souls game - something threatening that needs to be killed so we can all move on with our lives.
It isn't just comic book movies who have adopted this trend: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them took a similarly questionable road, with a big bad that was literally a whirling mass of dark energy that flew around the city smashing stuff. Seriously, we can do better than this.
