6. Death Wish/Dirty Harry
Harry Callahan. Paul Kersey. Two of cinemas most iconic & influential hardcases, and in Clint Eastwood and Charles Bronson, two of Hollywoods greatest action stars. Lets be clear- without Callahan & Kersey there would be no John McClane, no RoboCop and no Punisher. Both Callahan & Kersey have zero tolerance for crime, carry inordinately large firearms and have personal body counts approaching three figures. Theres only one little problem: ones a cop and the other is a vigilante. You can probably see where this is going. Kerseys usual hunting grounds are New York & LA, but it would take very little to get him to take his unique brand of street justice to San Francisco. Of course, this would bring him into direct conflict with SFPDs finest; specifically Detective Harry Callahan. And as anyone whos seen Magnum Force knows, Callahan doesnt take too kindly to vigilantes. Not kindly at all. The great thing about a Dirty Harry/ Death Wish crossover wouldnt be its jaw dropping, mind blowing (literally) violence but the questions it would throw up: is vigilantism justified when the system has failed? Is justice rooted in morality or legality? And how would a .32 Colt fare against a .44 Magnum- the most powerful handgun in the world?
