8 Awesome Reasons Why The 80's Movie The Wizard Remains Relevant

3. The Continuance Of The Nintendo Cartridge Family

Father and son Sam and Nick Woods share a tumultuous relationship following the disruption of the Woods family. Sam scolds Nick for going off on drinking sprees in his pick-up while Nick yells at Sam for closing himself off from his kids.

The tension reaches its boiling point during their car trip to retrieve their Los Angeles-bound relatives. It seems as though their problems will remain unresolved until Nick leaves their hotel room and fetches Corey's old NES console. Rather than hash out their differences in a heart-to-heart conversation, the two bond over an interest in reaching the highest nemesis of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Similar moments of family togetherness continue to be displayed in homes across the country by families who managed to get the recent Classic NES mini-consoles. Fairly easy to transport and designed for a pair of players, the game unit encourages scenes just like the ones shared by Sam and Nick.

Millennials recall the thrill of tapping away on the controllers while their children witness multiple onscreen worlds for the first time. It's no surprise to find representatives of each generation cheering on Jimmy's victory in the film's climax. What's less shocking is that this particular pastime has a longer life than Mario. The need to win against kin never goes out of style.
