8 Awkward MCU Moments That Must Have Happened Off-Screen

There were a lot of moments throughout Avengers: Endgame that left the collective minds of audiences the world over blown., from Cap lifting Mjolnir to Tony snapping his fingers. One of the biggest pops however, was the first of Doctor Strange’s portals opening.

FINALLY, the fallen heroes of the MCU were returning to aid Cap in his battle against Thanos at just the right time. Before T’Challa, Shuri, and Okoye’s portal opened, Cap had a fuzzy communication from Sam telling him where to look. “On your left” was a wonderful callback to the pair’s first meeting at the beginning of The Winter Soldier, and on the face of it that’s all it was.

But when you think about it some more, it becomes clearer that Sam Wilson must have specifically asked for Doctor Strange to open the first portal on Steve’s left, to make this work.

Imagine all that was going through Stephen Strange’s head at this time, making sure he and Wong were getting everyone from potentially dozens of planets, having just come back into existence himself, and then try to think about something he would potentially care less about than Sam being able to have this moment with Steve. Oh, to be a fly on the wall for that conversation.
