8 Best Comic Storylines Featuring Spider-Man: Far From Home Villains

1. The Return Of The Sinister Six - The Amazing Spider-Man #337

Mysterio was a founding member of the Sinister Six, and with it being only a matter of time until that group makes the leap to the big screen, it makes sense to brush up on their history before Far From Home releases this summer.

There are plenty of Sinister Six stories worth reading, but perhaps the best is 1990's The Return of the Sinister Six, which featured a villainous team comprised of Doctor Octopus, Vulture, Sandman, Electro, Hobgoblin and of course Mysterio too. The comic was later adapted into a video game by -*shudders* - LJN, but the best and only way to experience it is to read the original issues.

So far Far From Home has four potential members to form an onscreen Sinister Six in Michael Keaton's Vulture, Michael Mando's Scorpion, Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio and Numan Acar's Chameleon, but more could be on the way. Chameleon is related to Kraven the Hunter in the comics, and where one brother goes the other is soon to follow.

Factor in the inevitable inclusion of Norman Osborn in the future, and Spidey fans could yet see the Sinister Six on the big screen a lot sooner than they think. Here's hoping that when they come, the story will be as good as this one.

Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
