Hunter Killer Gary Oldman
Summit Entertainment

Release: TBC

Gary Oldman might make missteps like Hunter Killer, but he's still one of the greatest living actors and it's inevitably interesting to see what he tackles next. The same goes for Armie Hammer, whose reputation has grown considerably in the wake of Call Me By Your Name, with some calling for him to be the new Batman.

The pair will combine with Evangeline Lilly for thriller Dreamland, which will table the international opiod crisis and will be directed by Nicholas Jarecki, who also wrote it, according to Deadline.

It's set to tackle three converging stories: Firstly of a drug trafficker who arranges a huge Fentanyl smuggling operation over the Canadian border.; an architect recovering from addiction who tracks down the truth behind her son’s drug involvement; and a university professor who discovers unexpected truths about the drug company he works for and the deep government influence as the develop a new “non-addictive” painkiller.

It's an important story and that collection of talent should ensure it's done justice. If they get it right, it also sounds like the kind of thing the Academy would lap up.
