5. The Menu

Alexander Payne is easily one of the most arresting directors currently working after the likes of Sideways, The Descendants and Nebraska and even with Downsizing missing the mark a little, he remains hugely talented. He's now attached to comedy horror-thriller The Menu for Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's production company Gary Sanchez Productions.

They'll both produce from a script by Will Tracy and Seth Reiss, which presents a story set in the world of high-end culinary culture and focuses on a young couple who visit an exclusive restaurant on a remote island for a special meal with some "shocking surprises". Variety say it'll be Payne's next project and it's bound to be funny with Tracy who wrote for HBO’s “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver” and Reiss who was formerly the head writer of the Onion involved.

Let's hope it's a true return to form for Payne too.
