8 Big Changes The Death Note Remake Made

6. Misa Amane To Mia Sutton

Mia Sutton is a loose representation of Misa Amane, who is a famous model turned Kira fangirl that becomes completely obsessed with Light, whilst he views her as nothing more than a tool.

The manga is brilliant, but it’s not devoid of issues considering that the female characters are scarce and over-sexualised. At least the remake makes an attempt to remedy this sexism. However, Mia Sutton is an angsty cheerleader, who becomes corrupted by the power of the Death Note, until she’s willing to kill Light to become the owner.

Believe it, or not, this is an improvement. However, the film is still flawed considering that Mia is a love interest and far less developed than Light.
