8 Big Changes The Death Note Remake Made

4. Absence Of The Task Force

There are a handful of colourful characters who are completely cut from the remake, and many of these characters are essential to the story. L makes it his mission to capture Kira, so he assembles a team from the police force to help him, which includes Light’s father, Soichiro Yagami. In the remake, Soichiro stays in the form of James Turner, and the rest of the Task Force are absent.

This is understandable, since they condensed an entire 12 part manga into an 100 minute film, but the film sorely misses these characters. If it were possible, then it would have been worth planning the story as a series of films, so more aspects of the manga could be included.
