8 Big Movie Stars That Started As Background Extras

1. Jean-Claude Van Damme - Breakin'

Any film with the poster tagline "Push it to Pop it! Rock it to Lock it! Break it to Make it!" is guaranteed to entertain. That's why it was also the tagline for films like The King's Speech and There Will Be Blood (probably). The plot, if it can actually be called that, sees rivalries between two groups of break dancers and a young female dancer struggling to make a name for herself and blah blah blah. It's not really important. We're here to see crazy dance moves and terrible '80s fashion, and boy does it deliver that. It's cheese syringed right into your heart valve, you know. During one of the film's many dance-offs a baby faced Jean-Claude Van Damme can be seen lurking in the background, trying to get your attention. Van Damme was apparently completely broke and living out of a car when he appeared in this, and he admits he did his level best to get noticed onscreen. This included doing jumps and flips in the background behind the actors, but most of his flashier moves got cut out. But that said, what survives is still a delight. And that's why he's made it to number one, as while he may just be a wordless extra, he's already acting like a star. Like this article? Let us know in the comments section below.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
