Why The 8 Biggest Criticisms Of Christopher Nolan Are Wrong

2. He€™s Only Liked By Fan-Boys

The Criticism: Any Nolan-sceptics out there have probably already had this point run through their mind a couple of times during this list. More so than any other director working today, Nolan has his very own fanbase who invest themselves as much in his new releases as Trekkies do in Star Trek (OK, maybe not that far, but you get the idea). Unfortunately this provides those who aren't too hot on him to simply dismiss any positive praise of his career in a general sense as part of a fan-boy mentality. The Defence: A simple look at the level of success Nolan has received should show this to be hokum. It's not just those who will love a Nolan movie unconditionally who bolster his films to consistently be the biggest movies of their respective years. Critics, whose careers rely on not being biased, and mainstream audiences, who don't have the same level of loyalty, come out to watch his films with overwhelmingly positive reactions. Nolan has, like a pre-Cars 2 Pixar, one of the most consistent outputs in modern cinema, so it's only natural for there to be those who will staunchly defend his entire filmography, but when it's so unanimously good that doesn't mean it's being done out of blind love.
