4. Pablo Larrain Directing Scarface Remake

Yep, they're remaking Scarface! But before any of you start freaking out, I want to remind you about one thing: the 1983 Scarface you know and love was also a remake. The original was produced by Howard Hughes (yep, that Howard Hughes) and came out in 1932. With that said, can you believe they're remaking Scarface?! I just see this being a big disaster. Yes, it could be good, but the 1983 film is such a beloved and iconic classic that this film almost seems doomed to fail. Well, Universal is going to try anyway, and have hired Chilean director Pablo Larrain to bring it to life. According to The Wrap, the remake will be "an original story set in modern day Los Angeles that follows a Mexican immigrant's rise in the criminal underworld as he strives for the American Dream." It's described as more of a "mythic origin story," focusing on Tony's physical and emotional wounds and how they shaped the man that he'd become. Larrain has never worked on a Hollywood film before, so hopefully that means he'll bring some fresh perspective to the project and is able to do something special with it. Before Larrain was attached, Harry Potter director David Yates was in talks. Now just think about that for a second...
