8 Biggest Unconfirmed Rumours About 2020 Movies
3. Mushu Has Been Replaced And The Songs Have Been Cut - Mulan
Disney's live-action remakes are a mixed bag in terms of how faithful they are to the source material. While The Lion King stayed pretty much bang-on to how the original played out, Dumbo tried to expand and tweak the 1941 animation, with poor results.
So what will Mulan do? For better or worse, it sounds as though next year's remake will be taking the Dumbo route - at least, if a big rumour is to be believed.
The DisInsider reported this one earlier in the year, with the site stating that Mushu the dragon (played by Eddie Murphy in the original) will not be a part of the remake, and that the cast will not be singing any of the classic songs from the animated version.
This rumour was somewhat backed up by the film's first trailer, which contained not a single hint of Mushu's presence, nor did it appear to include any singing. However, it was just a teaser, and the marketing team could very well be holding these elements back for now.
While it wouldn't be totally unusual for a Disney remake to mix-up the original, you have to question the logic behind removing arguably Mulan's two most beloved elements. We should get a second trailer quite soon though, so more will be revealed then.
