4. Steve Trevor Will Be Revived By Maxwell Lord - Wonder Woman 1984
Ever since it was reported that Steve Trevor was returning in Wonder Woman 1984, there's been no shortage of theories attempting to explain his death-defying, surprising comeback.
At the top of the pile, one of the most persistent ideas - and one that has been the subject of a lot of inside rumours - is that Steve's resurrection is tied to the character Maxwell Lord, who will appear in 1984 courtesy of actor Pedro Pascal.
According to various sites, the plot of the film will involve Lord searching for magical artefacts in order to make himself as powerful as a god. Along the way, Lord will be targeted by Cheetah (Kristen Wiig), forcing him to turn to Wonder Woman for protection. But why would she help someone so shady? Well, because he uses one of those artefacts to bring Steve back to life, which acts as Diana's "payment", if you will.
Given how much Diana was shown to care for Steve in the first film, this whole rumour sounds quite plausible. She'll probably defeat Lord in the end, but temporarily teaming up with him in order to see Steve again would be an understandable motivation for her.
