8 Biggest Unconfirmed Rumours About 2020 Movies

1. Tony Stark Has A Cameo - Black Widow

2020 is going to be one of the toughest years the MCU has had in quite some time.

For one thing, it will be impossible for Black Widow and The Eternals to come close to Avengers: Endgame in terms of scale and the ability to please fans, which may lead to those two movies feeling a touch disappointing, even if they're both solid.

But perhaps even more crucially, 2020 will be the MCU's first shot at proving it can still appeal to audiences without the backing of its two biggest characters - Iron Man and Captain America. Or so we thought.

While Steve Rogers appears to have served his time, Tony Stark may still have one last go left in him. If a throwaway comment in a Deadline article is to be believed, Robert Downey Jr "will be seen in the role of Stark one more time" in the upcoming Black Widow prequel, presumably in a really small capacity.

If this is true, it doesn't mean that Downey Jr has shot more scenes - it could be old footage from Captain America: Civil War, which takes place just before Black Widow in the MCU timeline. It could also be a flashback to an even older movie, or a quick shot of Tony on a TV screen.

Whatever the case, the character won't have a massive role, but it would be nice to see him pop up for one final bow.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
