8 Casting Decisions In Upcoming Movies That Are Completely Perfect
2. Emma Thompson - Mrs. Potts (Beauty And The Beast)
Quite simply, if Angela Lansbury is unavailable to play Mrs. Potts, the only other natural choice for the role is the lovely Emma Thompson. And Disney seem to agree - Thompson is set to play the loveable Mrs. Potts in their upcoming live-action remake of its own Beauty And The Beast. This is inspired casting of the highest order, not only because it makes perfect sense from an acting perspective, but because it's the kind of "of course!" casting choice that makes any other potential choices for the role look like blasphemy. It has to be Emma Thompson. Presently, it's not quite understood how much CG will be used to make this transformation happen - whether Thompson will, indeed, find herself voicing a teapot, or playing a human woman. Expect a mixture of both, perhaps? Still, in whatever capacity she ends up playing this character, you can bet that she'll do it better than anyone else on Earth. For Disney, we bet the decision to cast her was a complete and utter no-brainer.
