There was a time when Ryan Reynolds seemed wrong for Deadpool. That time was X-Men Origins: Wolverine... and the less said about that the better, right? But now we've had a good look at what Reynolds is doing with the character in the upcoming standalone Deadpool, and he's nailing it: like, outright nailing it. Not only does the recent trailer confirm that he was the right actor for the job all along, but it also looks like Reynolds might have finally found the role he was born to play - this time in the right context, too. His Wade Wilson appears hilarious and self-aware in all the right places. Phew. Reynolds looked as though he was going to remain as one of those semi-famous actors that Hollywood just can't find what to do with (Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer... you know the sort), but Deadpool appears to have connected the actor with a character that emphasises all of his best talents; here's hoping that his performance in the trailer is just as good on the big screen, because from the way it looks so far, Fox have found their perfect Deadpool.
