If you're a fan of the Saw series, then it's movies like Cube that you have to thank for it. Establishing the whole 'strangers trapped in a torturous nightmare that die a lot' trope and packed to the brim with grisly deaths, Cube is about a group that wakes up inside... well, a cube, and have to figure out a safe path through the interconnecting rooms that doesn't involve getting shredded into chunks by cheese wire.

Whilst a sequel in Cube 2: Hypercube and a prequel in Cube Zero were made, there was a third follow up set to come to fruition that was built entirely around the 3D gimmick of the time. Of course, it was titled Cube 3D.

It wasn't ascertained whether this would be a sequel or a reboot to the franchise that started in 1997, but in either case, it would be tailored for the 3D audience in the same way Saw 3D found a home in cinemas by delivering gore that quite literally jumps out the screen. Whilst watching someone get diced and feeling the splash back of face-melting acid would certainly be a film experience, it wasn't to be in the end. Shame, flying human meat cubes are really hard to find on screen nowadays.
