8 DC Comic-Con Details You Probably Missed
1. Brandon Routh As Kingdom Come’s Superman
On Friday evening, news broke that Brandon Routh was to play Superman in this year’s huge Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover – news that many took as Routh reprising the Man of Steel role he played in 2006’s Superman Returns.
Instead, Saturday’s Arrow panel saw Routh interrupt proceedings to reveal that he is actually going to be playing the iconic Kingdom Come version of Kal-El.
What’s the Kingdom Come version of Kal-El, some non-comics fans amongst you may ask? Well, Kingdom Come is an iconic 1996 story from Mark Waid and Alex Ross. In that tale, readers were given an older, grizzled Superman who has become disillusioned with the younger superheroes of the day and their increasingly violent tendencies.
This version of Superman will appear in Crisis on Infinite Earths in addition to the Tyler Hoechlin take on Superman that Arrowverse fans are accustomed to.
