Chris Pine has been confirmed as playing Steve Trevor in the WWI set Wonder Woman movie, but there are those who believe that the Star Trek actor will play his grandson in the present day. Confining Steve to just that one period would be a huge mistake, and while it's a little hammy to have an actor play two versions of the "same" character, not including Steve Trevor in the Justice League would be a real missed opportunity. In the comics, he serves as a government liaison to the team and offers the reader a very human look at these Godlike beings. Throw in the fact that there would no doubt be a fair bit of awkwardness between Diana and this Steve, and there are a lot of storytelling possibilities on the table thanks to his involvement. His association with A.R.G.U.S. would also help tie this movie to Amanda Waller and the events of Suicide Squad.
