8 Dead Movie Characters Who Could Actually Return Soon

4. Robert Neville - I Am Legend

The end of I Am Legend saw Will Smith's Robert Neville sacrifice his own life to take down a bunch of mutant Darkseekers, save the cure to the tale's virus, and effectively become the saviour of mankind - or at least what's left of it.

It didn't take long for Warner Bros. to start weighing up an I Am Legend sequel shortly after the film's December 2007 release, and there are even now still rumblings of something happening with the property.

Of course, over 13 years have now passed since that first movie was released, and you'd be forgiven that any such follow-up was to happen. Making the return of Robert Neville possible, though, is the fact that it was only a couple of years ago that Warners was attempting to put together a script for a prequel picture that would showcase Smith's character in the days when the world first became ravaged by the virus that ultimately wiped out 90% of the population.

What it all comes down to here, is if Will Smith wants to do an I Am Legend prequel, an I Am Legend prequel will happen. Given how he's refused to rule out returning to the Robert Neville role, that means that there's always a chance that WB seriously push to get the film made once the movie industry starts to fully open up again.
