8 Dead Movie Characters Who Could Actually Return Soon

3. Stu Macher - Scream

Revealed as one of the two killers in Wes Craven's iconic, game-changing Scream, Matthew Lillard's Stu Macher was last seen having a TV dropped on his head by Sidney Prescott. While we all presumed that Stu died as a result of this attack, it looks like he actually survived the events of that fateful Woodsboro night back in 1996.

While Billy Loomis - Stu's partner in crime for that first film's murder spree - was 100% dead after being shot through the forehead by Sidney, we never actually got to see Stu's dead body.

Adding further credence to Stu having survived his purported demise, Matthew Lillard has stated how his character was supposed to return for Scream 3. In that threequel, Craven planned to reveal that Stu was the person behind the murders of the picture, manipulating impressionable teenagers from his jail cell.

Following the events of 1999's tragic Columbine Massacre, Scream 3 opted to go in a different direction, instead introducing Sidney's half-brother Roman as the main antagonist of the film when it was released in February 2000.

Speaking to TooFab last year, Lillard made it clear that he'd love to return to the franchise for Scream 5. And with that film now in post-production ahead of a release later this year, maybe we'll finally get to see Stu Macher back in action.
