4. Superman

Richard Donners 1978 superhero film was quite rightly a smash hit and paved the way for numerous comic book movies which followed. For the most part its a great movie with Christopher Reeve giving a career-defining performance as Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman. As Lex Luthors dastardly scheme hurtles towards its fateful conclusion, Supes is left with a devastating choice as two missiles are heading in two different directions and even he cant be in multiple places at once. After saving Hackensack New Jersey, he is too late to save his beloved Lois Lane and she dies a tortuous death by suffocation. How are they going to get out of this one? Obvious isnt it? Just hit the reset button. Have Superman fly around the world really REALLY fast and it will reverse time and allow him to save his beloved. Two things spring to mind here, firstly going back in time is a massive deus ex machina and is perhaps the ultimate screenplay cop-out next only to it was all a dream. Secondly, and this is perhaps less important given the type of film Superman was, but it makes literally no sense. Why would flying around the world turn back time anyway? I know Im looking for logic in a film where people are fooled merely by a pair of glasses, but still.
