8 Disney Theme Park Rides That Were Turned Into Films

7. The Country Bears

Tower Of Terror
Buena Vista Pictures

Easily the strangest and worst film on this list, Disney's attempt at turning the Country Bear Jamboree into a full length-feature is truly awful.

If you have never been lucky enough to experience the Country Bear Jamboree attraction at Disney World, it is basically a musical stage show made up of animatronic redneck bears who perform country music for a few minutes. That's it. Somehow in 2002, Disney thought it would be a good idea to bring these characters to the big screen in their own feature film.

The Country Bears was Disney's third attempt at adapting an attraction to a film, and it is a surprise that it wasn't the last given how poorly it was received. Despite the continued popularity of the charming attraction even to this day, audiences did not connect with the story of 'Beary Barrington' reuniting the Country Bears for a concert to save Country Bear Hall. The film bombed and was a huge financial disaster for Disney, barely earning half of its estimated $35m budget.

The most baffling thing about the adaptation is that none of the characters or songs featured in the original attraction even appear in the film. The Country Bears is available now on Disney+ if you are curious, but remember to lower your expectations. It is unbearable.

If I'm not talking about films, I'm watching them.
