Early Yoda designs appeared in The Empire Strikes Back Sketchbook in 1980 and absolutely bonkers, they are.
A far cry from the pointy-eared Jedi master we first met in Episode V, the sketches depict a being that looks like a garden gnome who's made off with Gandalf's staff.
The book chronicles Yoda's evolution from this point, with the green skin and pointy ears later added before the swamp dweller took on his final form.
