6. Jean-Claude Van Damme Had To Run Around In A Red Leotard For His Big Break
Jean-Claude Van Damme thought Predator would be his big break; after all, he was playing the title villain in a big budget Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, so what could possibly go wrong? Well, for a start nobody told him hed essentially be playing an uncredited special effect, or that his face would never be seen on camera. Then he saw the original Predator costume, which was a hideous looking giant bug thing that was extremely difficult to move it. For most of his time onset he had to run around - in the sweltering heat of a Mexican jungle - in an outfit that made him look like a giant lobster. This role did his ego no favours, and he often injured himself because he couldnt see out of the costume properly. When the studio decided the costume was awful Jean-Claude was fired, though it wasnt a total loss; he got his SAG card and scored a leading role in a martial arts film because of Predator. Hes never spoken about his experience though, and the pictures of his work arent exactly flattering.
