8 Ensemble Casting Choices For Next James Bond Movie

6. John Boyega As Q

Luther Idris Elba
MGM

Q and Bond have always had a strained relationship which has often led to comic bickering between the two. When Cleese came in, the role became even more slapstick, only to be dialled down under Ben Whishaw. With John Boyega at the helm as the gadget extraordinaire, both the humour and back-and-forth of the past and the intelligence of the present can be utilised for a best-of-both-worlds situation.

In his breakout roles as Moses in Attack the Block as Finn in the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, Boyega proved he had some serious talent for humour and action, making him perfect for a role like this. It wouldn’t be at all far fetched to see a talented actor like Boyega easily have hilarious exchanges with anyone he shared the screen with. Also, should the producers want to expose Q to the dangers of the world of espionage, Boyega is a believable physical presence.

However, what makes Boyega such a fine candidate is his articulation. Boasting a confident, well-spoken voice that could be heard in the biggest of crowds, it wouldn’t be hard at all to see the young British-Nigerian actor talk his way through the meticulous gadgets and ridiculous cars he’s devised for Mr Bond.
