8 Most Epic Jean-Claude Van Damme Moments

2. Van Damme... Punching A Snake (Hard Target)

Snake Punch Hard Target was legendary action maestro John Woo's first American film and an enjoyably daft update of The Most Dangerous Game. Van Damme plays Chance, a drifter hired by a woman to help her track down her missing father, a homeless Vietnam vet. Their search puts them in the firing lines of a group of immoral hunters who use former soldiers and veterans as their prey. But when this group decides to chase after Chance, they're going to find him a Damme Hard Target! Now Van Damme does a lot of epic things in this one including standing on top of a moving motorcycle while firing a gun, dropping a grenade down the pants of a bad guy and firing a handgun upside down with his little finger, but there's one scene that towers above them all. After a lengthy chase through some swampland Chance and his love interest stop to catch a breath. As she rests by a tree he edges up to her and tells her gently to close her eyes. She does, her eager lips puckering ever so slightly at the expected kiss...when the world's most aggressive rattlesnake emerges from the tree behind her ready to strike. Chance grabs the snake and pulls it away as her eyes go wide in horror. The snake struggles futilely in Van Damme's firm grip before he tames it with a punch, where it goes limp in his hand. Not one to waste an opportunity he proceeds to bite the snake's rattle off so he can use it to set a trap, where it later goes on to bite a pursuing hunter in the face. You may now make your own Van Damme has a really dangerous snake joke.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
