8 Famous Actors Who Bullied Their Co-Stars

2. Robert De Niro Ignored Cybill Shepherd - Taxi Driver

Robert De Niro offered up what is arguably his greatest ever performance in Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver, a motion picture in which he co-starred alongside actress Cybill Shepherd. Whilst De Niro played disillusioned Vietnam veteran turned taxi driver Travis Bickel, Shepherd played the objection of his affection, Betsy, a political campaigner. Whilst the pair share a noticeable chemistry with one another on-screen (at least for the first half of the film, they do), off-screen things were a little bit tense. That's to say, De Niro and Shepherd got on like a house on fire until he plucked up the courage to ask her out. Shepherd, who was in a relationship with director Peter Bogdanovich at the time, rejected him, and then found herself up against De Niro's wrath. Which translates to... he just outright ignored her for the rest of the shoot. There have been a few reports that De Niro's reaction to this shunning also materialised in the form of some bullying; he would supposedly pull her up on certain scenes and criticise, or make slight jabs. Somewhat bizarrely, the actress apparently regrets turning him down!
