8 Famous Movie Scenes That Were Hell To Film

6. The Shark Attacks - Jaws

The cast and crew of Jaws were all at sea during the shoot... in more ways that one. Movies filmed on the open waves tend to encounter all kinds of issues, and Steven Spielberg's shark-infested blockbuster was no exception.

Any of the scenes featuring the killer shark itself were a nightmare for the cast to film because the animatronic great white kept breaking down. There were actually four of these props and each one of them malfunction more than once.

In fact, it was dodgy animatronics that made Jaws the classic it is. As the sharks rarely functioned properly, Spielberg took a different approach and chose to suggest the animal's presence, rather than show it. This resulted in a suspenseful fright fest that relied on nuanced filmmaking techniques rather than out-and-out horror.

Funnily enough, it wasn't just during shooting that the sharks broke down. Spielberg invited his buddies George Lucas and Martin Scorsese to the set so he could show off his animatronic toys, and the former got his head stuck in its mouth. Where was that shark when Lucas was trying to get the Star Wars prequels off the ground?
