8 Famous Movie Scenes That Were Hell To Film
5. Robo's First Patrol - RoboCop
Peter Weller became a near-indestructible killing machine in the original RoboCop, but on the set of the movie, he was quite the opposite. The actor staggered around, encumbered and blinded by his bulky, plastic getup.
During shooting, Weller had to be led to and from the set because his vision was restricted, and this made filming one of the key scenes way trickier than it should have been. Shortly after Murphy's resurrection, he's passed fit to head out on patrol and a crimefighting montage punctuated by Basil Poledouris's epic score kicks off.
Moments before Robo heads out to clean up the streets, the police chief tosses him a set of car keys which he catches effortlessly. In reality, there was nothing effortless about it. The scene where RoboCop grabs the keys took an entire day to film.
On each botched take, Weller would either miss the keys entirely or they'd bounce off his rubber gloves. After 50 attempts, each more tedious than the last, the lead star finally made the catch and a memorable shot went into the can.
