8 Famous Movie Scenes That Were Hell To Film
1. The Water Rapids - Deliverance
Burt Reynolds has a tough guy persona to maintain, so when Deliverance director John Boorman tried to call in a stuntman to for a scene involving his character, a canoe and a 25-foot waterfall, he did the only thing you'd expect: insist on performing the stunt himself.
Boorman was unable to talk him out of it, so Reynolds took the plunge and it wasn't long before he realised he was up a well-known creek. He struck a rock and injured his tailbone, and if that isn't enough, he also plummetted into a whirlpool which stripped him of his clothes. That would have made excellent footage for the bloopers reel if the actor hadn't been hospitalised by the incident.
Reynolds required a trip to the emergency room and claims that his tailbone still hurts to this day. Was the footage they shot worth it? According to Boorman, Reynolds looked "like a dummy falling over a waterfall", so draw your own conclusions.
