4. Hades - Hercules
Hades is the God of the Underworld - not just in Disney's
Hercules, but in Greek mythology on the whole. In mythology, he's not such a bad guy, but in the movie he's a bonafide villain, 'cause - c'mon - he's the most likely candidate. Jealous of his brother's success as King of the Gods (great job title) and looking to take over Mount Olympus, he turns Zeus' son, Hercules, mortal, because the Fates reveal to Hades that he will fail in his future plans if Hercules fights. Unfortunately, he's only partly successful, and Herc keeps his God-like strength. And so we have an entire movie about Hades' attempts to murder Hercules so that he can follow through with his evil plans. There's a lot of killing and damsel-capturing undertaken in the process, though eventually Hercules manages to stop Hades, and then he destroys him. No, that's a joke. Herc just punches him in the face, and Hades falls into a river of dead souls. That's it. Is he stuck there forever? Probably not, since he's a God. So why didn't Herc arrange for Zeus to do something more fitting to the guy who caused so much death and destruction and even killed his girlfriend? A swim in his own backyard ain't justice. Still, James Woods.
